YouTube Playlist Duration Calculator
Calculate the total length of any YouTube playlist. See how long it takes to watch at different speeds (1.25x, 1.5x, 2x).
Private, deleted, restricted, or unavailable playlist items may prevent a complete total.
How playlist duration is calculated
The calculator identifies the public videos returned for a YouTube playlist, reads each available duration, and adds the times together. It then estimates viewing time at faster playback speeds by dividing the total duration by the selected speed.
Worked example
A playlist totaling 4 hours takes about 3 hours 12 minutes at 1.25×, 2 hours 40 minutes at 1.5×, or 2 hours at 2×. These values assume continuous playback without pauses, advertisements, buffering, skipped sections, or breaks.
How to interpret the result
- Confirm that the submitted URL opens the intended public playlist.
- Compare the normal-speed total with the faster-speed estimates.
- Add personal break, note-taking, and practice time when planning a course or study session.
Limits and missing videos
Private, deleted, region-restricted, or unavailable videos may not provide a duration and can make the result incomplete. Very large playlists can require multiple API requests, and later playlist changes will not update an old calculation automatically. YouTube documents playlist membership through PlaylistItems and video duration under the Videos resource.
